I'm glad that the Foundation has taken such a responsible approach to the issue and looked at the wider picture of all those affected to show that improvements across the road network have widespread impacts. Whilst Local Authority maintenance budgets are being stretched to deal with the effects of severe winter damage to road surfaces, ADEPT members are focussed on directing the use of limited highway funds to best effect, with safety remaining a high priority.<br/>

ADEPT recognises that good maintenance has beneficial effects on road safety, and has also encouraged the use of route safety intervention measures to reduce casualties in recent years.<br/>

ADEPT is contributing to the development of improved guidance for enabling consistent evaluation of route safety schemes and to support the evidence base for future road safety programmes.]]></content:encoded></item></channel></rss>
